Life’s GPS

May29

I was musing to my 30-yr old son yesterday how life’s journey reminded me of a navigational system, except we are not privy to a map of the course we are taking. It is comforting, when going toward a destination, to see only a road or two ahead, knowing the big arrow will give us enough time to make the turn up ahead and keep on course.

In life, however, we often find ourselves at a crossroads, wondering which way to go. We spend more time and anxiety at that crossroad than we would like. My advice to him, having observed his road map unfolding over the years, was keep going and you will get where you are supposed to go. His response to me was, “Mom, a GPS system is only as good as the information you have programmed into it”.

I guess that is where one needs to spend his or her time. Put in your correct destination, and then trust your inner GPS system to guide you toward it. If you take a wrong turn, you will most likely hear a little voice in your spirit saying “turn around” ever so gently until you make the correction. Staying frozen at the crossroads is often fear of making the wrong decision.

Check to make sure your destination is still correct, then push the button and go!
